YMCA youth sports encourage and promote healthy kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team-building as well as individual development, a positive self-image and mutual respect for others.

Program Descriptions
Basketball
Basketball League
This league is great for participants and coaches who want to continue working on their team play and technical skills. This program is set up for already established teams wanting to get more game time. Based on registration numbers, grades and genders may be combined.
Game days: Tuesdays or Thursdays
Game times: 4:30-7:30pm
Cost per team: CLOSED for 2026
Flag Football
Flag Football
Boys and girls are introduced to the fundamentals of the game while having fun with other kids their age. Players are led by Y-staff and volunteers in drills and games that teach the basic offensive and defensive skills and positions of football. Each child receives a t-shirt and mouth guard. Schedule consists of one practice day and 5 game days. All practices and games are held on the South Wood County YMCA sports field.
Homeschool Programs
HomeSchool – Youth Strength Development Program
This is a 6-week program focused on educating youth on free weight exercise movement patterns, nutrition, and progressive strength programming. Participants learn to perform exercise safely, create workout programs, and prioritize nutrition! This program is designed for ages 12 to 18.

HomeSchool Gym & Swim
Be active and make new friends!
This Homeschool Gym & Swim program is designed for homeschool students of ages 6+ years old. We will explore fun games and activities in the gym and swim in the pool each class.
Tuesdays | 1pm- 3pm
Micro Sports Clinics
Micro Sports
This program is designed for 3-5 year olds with parent participation required.

Each week we will play games like dodgeball, soccer, basketball, capture the flag & more.

Soccer
This program is designed for boys and girls to learn the basic skills of the sport. Teams will mix up each week so kids get a chance to play with different players. Bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothes and shoes. No cleats are allowed in the gym.

OPEN PICKLEBALL
Monday – Friday 10:00am – 1:00pm
Wednesday 6:00pm – 8:00pm
A fun way to play Pickleball with friends, members and family in a safe and healthy environment. Pickleball nets and balls will be available.
