Membership For All

The YMCA welcomes all who wish to participate and believes that no one should be denied access to the Y based on their inability to pay.

Through our Membership For All program, the South Wood County YMCA provides assistance to youth, adult and families based on individual needs and circumstances.

Membership Cost

Membership Info

  • Memberships are on a monthly basis and may be paid in full for the year.
  • Membership rate adjustments may occur annually with a 30-day notice.
  • Monthly drafts for memberships are continuous unless canceled (see below for cancellation process).
  • Family membership consists of yourself, a significant other and dependent children through the age of 18 (unless they are enrolled in college and are still in the household).
  • For those that become a member online, please stop in and visit our front desk during regular business hours to get your photo taken and membership card.

Processing Fee

A fee of $60.00 for Adult & Family memberships and $30.00 for Youth & Young Adult memberships is required. The fee is a non-refundable, one-time entry fee that is charged to all new SWC YMCA memberships or memberships that have lapsed more than 30 days.

Membership For All Program

All memberships are based on income. Your membersip rate may be determined depending upon household size and income level. For your on privacy applications may be filled out and returned to the Y. Your information will be privately reviewed staff will reach out to you with your approved rate within 5 buisness days. For more information on income-based membership please call us at 715-818-9622 (for Adams 608-472-5400) or stop by the front desk.

Methods of Payment

Monthly Bank or Credit Card Draft – The YMCA will draft your checking, savings, or credit card (MasterCard or Visa) account on the fifth day (or fifteenth per request) of each month. A voided check or credit card information, your membership application plus one-month payment and joiner fee are required to activate membership. Monthly bank or credit card memberships continue indefinitely.

Annual Payment – You can pay in full by credit card, personal check, or cash.

Cancellation

To cancel a membership, notification with documentation needs to be given to member services by the 25th of the month, prior to your next draft. Forms are available upon request at the front desk or emailed requests may be sent to yinfo@swcymca.org.

*If notice is given after the 25th, the next month’s membership fee will be taken out.

Day Pass Rates

Individuals who are not members of the South Wood County YMCA, or who are not Nationwide Members of another Y, may purchase a day pass to use the facility.

24 Hour Wellness Center Access

SWC YMCA is making access easier and more convenient for our adult members, age 18+, with 24-hour per day, 7 days per week, year-round access to our Wellness Centers at our Port Edwards and Adams facilities.

  • Adult members, age 18+, may apply for Wellness Center access at the Member Service desk in Wisconsin Rapids or Adams, during staffed hours of operations.
  • 24-hour access is protected by a security and video surveillance system.
  • Each adult member must purchase his/her own key fob to use to access the Wellness Center.
    • Youth 13-17 may utilize 24-hour access in Port Edwards and Adams with an approved guardian.
  • Key Fob’s are a one-time fee of $30.

24-Hour Access Q&A
  • Can a youth purchase a 24-hour access key fob on their own?
    • No. A legal parent/guardian will need to come in and purchase the 24-hour access key fob and sign the waiver.
  • Can the parent/guardian request to add/change authorized individuals to accompany the youth over the phone?
    • Yes, the legal parent/guardian can add/change authorized individuals over the phone, but it can only be the youth’s legal parent/guardian and will need to verify date of birth prior to changing.
  • Does the parent/guardian accompanying the youth also need an active 24-hour key fob?
    • Yes. Everyone utilizing the 24-hour access facility will need an active membership and an active key fob.
  • Does the youth need to be under direct supervision in the facility, or can the youth, for example, utilize the gymnasium while the approved parent/guardian works out in the wellness center?
    • The youth member does NOT need to be directly supervised by the parent/guardian. The approved adult MUST always remain in the facility but can be utilizing a different area within the facility.
  • Who can be approved as a parent/guardian?
    • Anyone 18 and older with the direct approval of the youth’s legal parent/guardian.
  • Can an approved parent/guardian bring in more than 1 youth at the same time?
    • Yes, as long as the parent/guardian is an approved guardian by ALL the youth that they are accompanying.
  • Can an approved parent/guardian still accompany a youth if their 24-hour access or membership is on hold/not active?
    • No. Everyone entering Port Edward’s 24-hour access needs to be an active member with an active key fob.
  • What are the responsibilities of the legal parent/guardian?
    • Keeping current contact information up to date.
  •  Authorizing up to 4 adults (18 or older) to accompany the minor child/children.
    • Ensuring that the youth understands the policies and procedures of the 24-hour access facility.
  • What are the responsibilities of the approved parent/guardian?
    • Any approved parent guardian is taking full responsibility of the wellbeing of the minor while in the 24-hour access facility including accident, injuries and/or damages that may occur.

Membership Policies

Membership Cards

A photo ID is required. If you lose your card, a $3.00 replacement fee will be charged. Members are required to scan their cards each time they visit the YMCA. Scanning cards means better security and service to our members. If you become a member online, please stop in during regular business hours to receive your photo taken and membership card.

Non-Member Participants

Non-member participants are able to purchase a day pass. It is required to sign-in at the front desk before entering the building. A photo ID is required for all adults purchasing a day pass.

Nationwide Membership

YMCA members have the opportunity to use YMCA’s throughout the state. Simply present your YMCA card and photo ID at Member Services.

Facility Closings & Inclement Weather

The SWC YMCA will always put the safety of its members, program participants, and staff first when decisions need to be made concerning inclement weather. When inclement weather poses a threat, the YMCA may adjust or cancel scheduled hours of operation, programs and/or special events. 

If the YMCA is closed, has a delay opening, or will be closing early, announcements will be made on our website and social media pages.

Facility Guidelines
  • In order to provide a safe environment for all our participants, who utilize the YMCA facilities, the following facility use guidelines and policies have been developed. We greatly appreciate the cooperation of all our members in creating a safe atmosphere at the YMCA.General Facility
    • All members much present their membership card at Member Service Desk each time they enter. Guests must register and show photo ID with Member Services Desk to gain access to the facility.
    • Members and guests age 7 and under must always be accompanied by an adult member age 18+ in the facility, unless in an organized program. This includes racquetball courts and gymnasiums.
    • Members and guests age 8 and older (13 and older in Adams) during business hours, may be in the YMCA facility without a parent/caregiver. The YMCA is not responsible should they be left alone on the property, unless they are enrolled and participating in an organized YMCA program.
    • All persons are expected to behave in a way that shows respect and caring for others. Please review YMCA Code of Conduct.
    • The Y reserves the right to take photographs of members and guests participating in YMCA activities to be used in promotional literature.
    • Members and guests are to identify themselves to staff when asked.
    • The Y is not responsible for any accidents. All individuals participate at their own risk. Please immediately report any accident or emergency to the Member Service Desk. Our staff is trained to assist in emergency situations.
    • Service animals that are trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability is allowed in our facilities. Emotional support animals, comfort animals and therapy dogs are not service animals under ADA, and therefore not allowed in our facilities. Pets and all other species of animals or dogs that are not service animals as not allowed in our facilities.

    Child Watch/Adventure Center

    • Parents MUST remain at the same YMCA Center as their child(ren) while utilizing Child Watch.
    • Child Watch is designed for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years old. Older children are welcome, but please remember the environment is for the younger child.
    • No snacks are permitted in Child Watch. Sippy/no-spill cups may be brought in and must be labeled with the child’s name. Labeled bottles can be given per your request and must be prepared by you ahead of time.
    • If the child experiences a long period of adjustment (i.e. continued crying after being comforted for 10-15 minutes), the staff will contact you to return to comfort your child, or remove from Child Watch.
    • If the behavior of the child is inappropriate for interaction in a group setting, the parent will be notified. For extreme behavior, the YMCA reserves the right to ask that a child not return for a specified period of time.
    • Parents must furnish supplies in a LABELED bag. If not completely toilet trained, please use a pull-up, diaper, etc. and include wipes, extra pants, etc. Your child will not be allowed to stay in Child Watch without the appropriate supplies.
    • Shoes must be worn in Child Watch. Exception: non-walkers. During the winter months when boots are worn and shoes are forgotten, boots will be worn.
    • Please refer to our website for current Child Watch hours.
    • The staff will disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects between reservation groups. A cleaning checklist will be followed by our staff to ensure thorough sanitizing of supplies and spaces.
    • As in the past, if your child is demonstrating any signs of cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms please keep them home until they are symptom free for at least 72 hours without the use of medication.
    • If a child begins showing any symptoms that are consistent with cold, flu or COVID-19, the child will be isolated from the rest of the group and the parent/guardian will be contacted to pick the child up from Child Watch.
    • If your child needs a bottle or sippy cup, please have it clearly labeled for used by Child Watch staff. Bottles and cups will remain stowed away and will be returned to the diaper bag following use.

    Universal Locker Room

    • Priority use of the Universal Locker Room is for adults with small children and those who require assistance and those with disabilities.
    • Lockers are for daily use only. Items left overnight will be removed.
    • Do not leave valuables unprotected or in your locker as the YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
    • Each family should try to utilize one locker, as the number of lockers is limited.
    • Please limit time in changing rooms to accommodate others who may be waiting. Do not leave your belongings in changing room, please place in Day Use Lockers.
    • The use of electronic recording devices is prohibited in ALL locker rooms.
    • Food and beverage, other than water, are not permitted in locker rooms.
    • Bare feet and wet swimsuits are not allowed outside of the locker rooms or pool area.

    Men’s/Women’s Locker Room

    • The Men’s Locker Room and Women’s Locker Room are provided for use by adults age 19 or older only. For the respect and comfort of all members, children under age 19 are not permitted in the adult locker rooms at any time. Adults with children should use the appropriate child-friendly locker room.
    • Lockers are for daily use only. Items left overnight will be removed.
    • Do not leave valuables unprotected or in your locker as the YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
    • Please limit time in changing rooms to accommodate others who may be waiting. Do not leave your belongings in changing room, please place in Day Use Lockers.
    • The use of electronic recording devices is prohibited in ALL locker rooms.
    • Food and beverages, other than water, are not permitted in locker rooms.
    • Bare feet and wet swimsuits are not allowed outside of the locker rooms or pool area.

    Family Rec & Lap Pool

    • The lifeguard must be present and has the authority to enforce any rule necessary to ensure a safe pool environment.
    • Everyone using the pool must take a soap shower before entering.
    • Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult in the water – within arm’s reach.
    • Non-toilet trained children must wear rubber pants or swim diaper. Regular diapers are not allowed.
    • Diaper changing on the pool deck is prohibited.
    • Swim attire must be appropriate and suitable for a YMCA family atmosphere.
    • Basketball shorts, nylon shorts, sports bras, t-shirts and other cotton apparel may not be worn in the pool.
    • No running, pushing or unnecessary roughness.
    • Street shoes and strollers are not allowed on the pool deck.
    • Diving is not permitted in shallow water.
    • Remove all bandages before entering the water.
    • Persons with open sores or rashes are not permitted in the pool area.
    • Diving blocks are for swim teams and instructional use only.
    • If 2 or more swimmers are in the lap lane, please circle swim.
    • No breath holding techniques are permitted in the pool.
    • Food, drink, and gum are not permitted in pool area (plastic water bottles are OK).
    • Please lock your belongings in a locker. The Y is not responsible for personal property that has been lost, damaged, or stolen.
    • Water wings and other inflatable devices, face masks or mermaid tails are not permitted in the pools. The Y has swim lesson float belts and Personal Floatation Devices available for use. Coast guard approved PFDs brought from home are acceptable.
    • The Y provides a basket of various pool toys to be used during open swim, please do not bring items from home.
    • Please do not sit or hang on lane lines or life lines, and keep the stair and entry and exit areas clear unless entering or exiting pool.
    • Pool areas close 10 minutes prior to building closing.

    Swim Tests

    • ANY SWIMMER UNDER THE AGE OF 16 must pass a swim test to be allowed entrance in the lap pool unless they are accompanied by an adult in the water or engaged in a YMCA swim program.
    • Swim bands will be provided upon completion and passing the test.
    • If you do not wear your band, you will be asked to re-take the test.
    • Test
      • Starting in the shallow end, swim ½ the length of the pool using a proficient front crawl or breaststroke and rhythmic breathing.
      • Stop swimming in front of the lifeguard chair and tread water for 30 seconds.
      • Finish swimming the second ½ of the pool using a proficient front crawl or breaststroke and rhythmic breathing.
      • Touching the lane lines, bottom or side of pool will NOT be allowed.

    Climbing Wall

    • Strong swimmers and climbers only.
    • One climber at a time.
    • No diving, back flips or backward diving.
    • Drop into water feet first.
    • Leave the plunge area immediately.
    • Follow the direction of the lifeguard.
    • Only use grips for climbing.
    • Do not climb above permitted area.

    Pool Viewing Access

    • We have designated pool viewing areas for lessons, please ask staff on duty to share where these are located.
    • Parents/Caregivers can accompany children on deck the first day of class only, remaining lessons, please watch from viewing area.
    • Street clothes are permitted when accompanying your child on the pool deck, but we ask that you remove your street shoes.
    • For safety reasons, stroller and car seats are not allowed past the locker room doors.
    • We recommend that parents remain in the building while child (<8 years) is in class should they need assistance in the bathroom or locker room.

    Whirlpool

    • Must be 16 years of age or older.
    • Limit time to 15 minutes.
    • Persons with health conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, or pregnancy should consult with a physician before using.
    • Do not submerge your entire head.
    • Whirlpool capacity is 10.
    • Whirlpool temperature is maintained at 101-104 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Exercise is prohibited in the whirlpool.
    • Whirlpool is not recommended immediately after intense physical activity or after sauna or steam room use.
    • Shaving, scents or washing of the body is not allowed and showers should be used beforehand.
    • Enter and exit slowly and cautiously.

    Sauna

    • The lifeguard/YMCA staff has the authority to enforce any rule necessary to ensure a safe environment.
    • Users must be 16 years of age or older to use this area.
    • Do not pour water on the rocks.
    • Exercise is prohibited in sauna and steam rooms.
    • Limit use to 10 minutes.
    • Sauna is not recommended immediately after intense physical activity or after whirlpool use.
    • Pregnant women and patrons with epilepsy, cardiovascular or respiratory problems, heart disease, diabetes, or high/low blood pressure should not use sauna.
    • Appropriate swim attire must be worn at all times. Towels are not considered attire.
    • Shaving, pumice, scents, oils, or washing of body is not allowed and showers should be used beforehand.

    Gym

    • Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Proper athletic attire, shirts must be worn at all times.
    • Please wear clean, dry, closed toe athletic shoes with non-marking soles.
    • No dunking or grabbing of the rims or nets.
    • Only YMCA staff are allowed to lower and raise the basketball rims.
    • The playing of music is prohibited.
    • Secure personal belongings in day lockers; no personal belongings should be brought into the gym.
    • Food and beverages, other than water, are not permitted in the gym.
    • NO kicking or inappropriate use of equipment or balls, and keep balls away from ceiling, lights and walls.
    • Be respectful of others by refraining from use of profanity, fighting, excessive yelling, unnecessary aggressiveness, and unsportsman-like conduct.
    • Full court basketball is not permitted during open gym times.
    • All members, of any age or skill level, are allowed equal opportunity for gym use and to become involved in any activities taking place during open gym.

    Track

    • Follow directional signage.
    • Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Inside lane is designated for walkers, outside lane is designated for runners.
    • Side-by-side walking or running should always be avoided.
    • Runners pass on the outside and to the right.
    • Please continue to move while on the track. Spectating or observing from the track is not allowed.
    • Secure personal belongings in day lockers.
    • Food and beverages, other than water, are not permitted on the track.
    • No cell phone use on the track.
    • For you and your child’s protection, please NO strollers or car seats on the track.

    Wellness Center

    • Please wear clean, dry, closed toe athletic shoes with non-marking soles.
    • Youth age 13-15 are welcome to work out on their own after completion of Wellness Center orientation.
    • Youth age 11 & 12 are welcome with a parent, after completion of Wellness Center orientation.
    • Wipe off equipment after each use.
    • Please respect the 30 minute time limit on cardio equipment.
    • Return all equipment when finished.
    • Do not drop or slam weights.
    • Allow others to share equipment and “work in” when using strength equipment. Take personal cell phone conversations outside the Wellness Center.
    • Use of non-YMCA Personal Trainers is prohibited within our facilities.
    • Secure personal belongings in day lockers.
    • Food and beverages, other than water, are not permitted in Wellness Center.

    Group Fitness Classes.

    • Members and guests ages 11-12 may participate in fitness classes with a parent.
    • Members and guests age 13 and older are welcome to participate in group fitness classes on their own.
    • For safety of all class participants, children not participating in a class are not to be in the group exercise studio during class.
    • Please respect other members and guests and wait until classes have ended before setting up equipment for a following class.
    • Out of courtesy to other members and guests, do not interrupt fitness classes that are in session.
    • It is your responsibility to put away all equipment used in fitness classes.
    • Equipment for each fitness class is provided. Personal items & equipment are not permitted in the studios. Please use lockers or designated area.
    • Food and beverages, other than water, are not permitted in fitness classes.

    Locker Rooms

    • Men’s (male 19+) and Women’s (female 19+) are reserved for adults ages 19 and older only. For the respect and comfort of all members, children under age 19 are not allowed in adult locker room at any time.
    • Adults with children of the same gender and anyone under age 19 are to use the appropriate Youth Male (Boys) or Youth Female (Girls) locker rooms.
    • Lockers are for daily use only.
    • Cell phone and camera use of any kind is prohibited in the locker rooms.

    Member Dress Code

    • Please embrace the family friendly environment of your Y. Required attire throughout the facility (exceptions for the pool and locker room) includes:
      • No midriffs showing
      • A shirt that touches the top of your shorts or pants.
      • No shirts with too much cut away or too low on the sides where the naval area is exposed.
      • Shorts or pants that are mid-thigh length or have a 3″ inseam.
      • Closed-toed and soft sole shoes in the wellness center and gym.
    • In the Wellness Center:
      • Please bring a change of shoes to avoid tracking in excess dirt, water, snow, etc. Sandals or flip-flops are not allowed.
      • Jeans are not allowed due to buckles, rivets and zippers that can wear on the equipment.
      • Clothing with offensive language or graphics is prohibited. The YMCA reserves the right to define inappropriate/offensive attire.

    Lost & Found

     

    • The Y is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. The lost and found is located at the Member Service desk. We will keep items for 2 weeks. If not claimed, they will be given to local charity.
Code Of Conduct
  • Everyone using the facility must display the YMCA Core Character values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring at all times. Violation of any of the above may result in membership termination and/or loss of privileges of the entire YMCA facility and programs.________________________________________

    Photo Policy

    South Wood County YMCA policy regarding the use of photographic or video equipment states that “photography of any kind within the YMCA or site will not be permitted without prior consent.” In instances in which permission is granted, the images must exclude any individual(s) who have not previously signed a YMCA Photo Release Form. Failure to support this policy may result in the confiscation of the photographic/video image and the involved of the police department.

    In addition, the YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who has been accused or convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse, is or has been a registered sex offender, has ever been convicted of any offense related to the sale, possession and /or transportation of illegal drugs, or is currently under the influence of illegal or dangerous drugs or chemicals, narcotics, or intoxicating beverages.

    Anyone who feels that this Code of Conduct is being violated should immediately report the behavior to a staff person on duty. YMCA staff members are eager to be of assistance.

    Suspension or termination of YMCA membership may result from a violation of this Code of Conduct. While an incident is being investigated, the membership of the person(s) accused of violating this Code of Conduct may be temporarily suspended pending a final decision.
