The SWC YMCA will always put the safety of its members, program participants and staff first when decisions need to be made concerning inclement weather. When inclement weather poses a threat, the YMCA may adjust or cancel scheduled hours of operation, programs and/or special events.

Program Classes
Cancellation of YMCA classes and/or programs will not be based upon local schools cancellations. We will make an independent decision based on our assessment of the weather. If we decide to cancel, we will notify by posting it on our Facebook page.  There will be no refunds for classes missed if you decide not to attend.

Karrie Benda is a Registered Dietician who has her bachelors and master’s degrees in Nutrition and Health Promotion from
UW-Stevens Point and completed her Dietetic Internship at UW-Madison.

Karrie recognizes that ‘one-size-fits-all’ nutrition advice often fails to optimize health. Greater long term success is achieved when one’s individual health needs and goals are evaluated and a personal strategy is devised that incorporates accountability and behavior change strategies.

If you’re looking for guidance and support through nutrition, Karrie would be honored to work with you.

At the Y, we don’t just teach swimming lessons or coach soccer. We’re about youth development: ensuring that the 9 million children and teens in our programs reach their full potential by helping them grow— physically, mentally and socially— from young children into engaged, active members of their communities.

Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. It’s about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or bringing your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities.

To bring about meaningful change, individuals need ongoing encouragement and tools. We’re here day-in and day-out to provide the resources our communities need to address the most pressing social issues: child welfare, education, employment, housing and substance abuse. We work to make sure every child, family and community has what they need to achieve their best.
