HEALTHY LIVING

Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. It’s about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or bringing your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities.

To bring about meaningful change, individuals need ongoing encouragement and tools. We’re here day-in and day-out to provide the resources our communities need to address the most pressing social issues: child welfare, education, employment, housing and substance abuse. Stand-Up Paddle Boarding is becoming one of the fastest growing water sports in the country. Easy to learn, this great outdoor activity stimulates the mind and body plus it’s an amazing full body workout. Get one of the best core, strength training and balance workouts on a stand-up paddle board.

For all ages and abilities. As your paddling technique and skills increase, you expand your workout potential.  Come experience the benefits at our beautiful river front.  This is a partnership with the SWC YMCA and SUP The Rapids.

SUP the Rapids, LLC will provide a stand up paddleboard (boards can carry a maximum weight of 275 pounds), a paddle, and a personal flotation device.  It is highly recommended that you have water shoes for the entry and exit of the river.

HEALTHY LIVING Achieving and maintaining wellness is a task that’s never finished. That’s why a healthy lifestyle is so important. We’re here to help you regardless of your starting point with a variety of classes and supports to keep you healthy in spirit, mind and body!

WELLNESS CENTER WORKOUTS
If you are looking for a guided workout, but not interested in attending group fitness classes, you are welcome to try our Wellness Center Workouts. Wellness staff will walk you through a 30 minute workout utilizing the machines in our Wellness Center. Up to 4 members may participate, and you can pick up a card to hold your spot at the front desk.

FITNESS ORIENTATION  If you are new to the Y or just would like a refresher on our equipment….we know that the more you know about the Y, the more you will enjoy your exercise.  The Y offers a complimentary fitness orientation with our qualified healthy lifestyles staff for all members. This is an introduction to our cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Appointments can be scheduled at the Member Services desk. 

PERSONAL TRAINING  Sometimes we need the advice of an expert, or the personal attention that comes with a trainer/coach. One-on-one instruction with a nationally certified personal trainer will offer personal training to help you set and meet your specific goals.

  CELEBRATE AT THE Y

ADVENTURE PARTIES
Celebrate your birthday, scout gathering, youth group or other party need at the YMCA!

We include a party room that will hold up to 25 guests.  We also have an enclosed infant/toddler area for your convenience.  The party room is attached to our three-story indoor playground that includes slides, toys, tunnels and a rock climbing wall.
SPLASH PARTY — Add on the use of our back and/or front swimming pool, lifeguard included.
GYMNASTICS PARTY — Enjoy the YMCA Youth Gymnastics Center for 2 hours of jumping on the tumble track or rolling down a mat with friends and family.  The Y provides a private room to enjoy food and refreshments along with a Gymnastics Instructor.

ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC | MONDAY AUG 6 | NOON Shotgun Start

Join, SOUTH WOOD COUNTY YMCA, at our Annual Golf Classic.

This event directly funds financial assistance at the Y, removing economic barriers so that everyone may access and participate in programs that change lives for good.

Proceeds from the Annual Golf Classic benefit more than1,200 local individuals and families annually.  By participating, your financial gift will help to strengthen our community through programs and services that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
