We’re about youth development: ensuring that the 9 million children and teens in our programs reach their full potential by helping them grow— physically, mentally and socially— from young children into engaged, active members of their communities.

Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. It’s about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or bringing your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

To bring about meaningful change, individuals need ongoing encouragement and tools. We’re here day-in and day-out to provide the resources our communities need to address the most pressing social issues: child welfare, education, employment, housing and substance abuse. Today’s fast-paced world provides little opportunity for families to spend quality time together. Do something fun and affordable by participating in Family Splash Nights! Family time at the Y gives you the opportunity to deepen relationships, develop new skills and interests, improve your health and well-being, and connect to your community. Meet new families and have a great time with your children.

HEALTHY LIVING Achieving and maintaining wellness is a task that’s never finished. That’s why a healthy lifestyle is so important. We’re here to help you regardless of your starting point with a variety of classes and supports to keep you healthy in spirit, mind and body!

FITNESS ORIENTATION  If you are new to the Y or just would like a refresher on our equipment….we know that the more you know about the Y, the more you will enjoy your exercise.  The Y offers a complimentary fitness orientation with our qualified healthy lifestyles staff for all members. This is an introduction to our cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Appointments can be scheduled at the Member Services desk. 

PERSONAL TRAINING  Sometimes we need the advice of an expert, or the personal attention that comes with a trainer/coach. One-on-one instruction with a nationally certified personal trainer will offer personal training to help you set and meet your specific goals.

GYMNASTICS

JUNIOR OLYMPIC GYMNASTICS CAMP
KDG-8TH GRADE | FRIDAY | AUG 26 | 8AM-5PM | PORT EDWARDS
Youth in Kdg-8th grade are encouraged to shake it up by coming to our one day camp to try the gymnastics and cheer programs.  The focus will be on safety, fun and encouraging kids to do their best, and believe in themselves. No prior gymnastics experience needed.
$20/Member  or  $30/Non-Member  * Fee includes snacks, lunch & prizes

PRESCHOOL OLYMPIC STARS GYMNASTICS CAMP
AGE 4 & 5 | TUE, AUG 23 & THURS AUG 25 | 10AM-11:30AM
Kids will have a great time learning gymnastics in a fun, challenging atmosphere.  No prior gymnastics experience needed.

10th ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC | MONDAY AUGUST 1 2016

The Annual Golf Classic supports the South Wood County YMCA ensuring that everyone in the community has the opportunity to participate at the Y regardless of ability to pay. The Y provided over $400,000 of Financial Assistance in 2015 to children and families in our community. All funds raised at the Golf Classic benefit the Annual Campaign. YOUTH SPORTS

JUMPSTART SOCCER
AUG 3, 10, 17 & 24 | AGE 4-6 | 5-5:45PM | PORT EDWARDS
Your child will learn the skills necessary to play soccer in a safe and healthy environment.  The program will focus on teaching kids rules, sportsmanship, techniques, and teamwork.  Parents are encouraged to participate alongside their child.  Minimum of 6 to run a session.  $20/Member  or $40/Non-Member

INTRODUCTION TO ORIENTEERING
SEPT 13, 15, 20 & 22 | AGE 7 – 15 | 4:00 – 5:00PM | PORT EDWARDS
 In this day and age kids (and some adults) are forgetting the fundamental skills that are being replaced with technology. This course is aimed at teaching basic directional skills and breaking the bond we all have with technology. Kids will learn the art of reading a map, reading a compass, following directions, and finding waypoints. Class will take place outside at our Port Edwards location with some off-site travel. Kids will need to bring a comfortable pair of shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, good listening skills, and a great attitude. We will us compasses provided by the Y, if you have your own you are encouraged to bring it. Maximum of 10 adventurers.  $16/Member  or $27/Non-Member
